Whats your thoughts or experiences on.....
« on: May 14, 2019, 12:33:55 am »
YouTube TV  Vs.  Sling  Vs.  Hulu or any other Wi-Fi TV , ready to cut my cable and there is ups and downs about each one.  Maybe someone can assist me.. Here is my must haves

1) local channels
2) DVR or cloud dvr capable

I already have a great LG smart tv with Sling and YouTube TV and Hulu programs on it. I can try a 1 month sub on them but figured i'd ask you nerdy types opinions first.

Sorry Nuukee - but tv channels are well beyond my sphere of knowledge and I have never even heard of Sling or Hulu.  :(

Cant really add too much of substance Nuukee as i think some of the things you mention are only available in the US. At home we have the basic cheapest cable package which doesn't get used a massive amount, and then we have a Roku stick which turns any tv/monitor into a smart tv style thingy.
On it there is a bunch of subscription based channels along with the usual suspects like Prime and Netflix. This is useful as we take it with us when travelling .

Ah. Sorry, I guess I assumed it was pretty much world wide like Netflix is. Ok thanks for your input.

Basically, its TV apps that smart tv's come with. As long as you have a wi-fi ( internet signal ) you turn on your tv.. go to say HULU or NETFLIX or YOUTUBTE TV open the app and watch the tv shows from that thru wifi. You pay a small monthly fee like Netflix was 8.00 usd when it came out so for 8 a month ( plus your internet fee ) you can watch movies, shows etc, the issue i'm wondering about is does it have local channels for local news, how do you record etc. Currently if i have a DVR box that can record up to 6 shows at one time, however if I get rid of my TV provider that unit goes bye bye so i'd like a way to record shows and watch them at a later time.

Some of these APPS have certain features and some don't, some more expensive and some less because of that. I was just wondering if anyone was experienced or have tried them.
